There’s a little park in our neighborhood, where we end up eating most of our picnics, that’s tucked away between beautiful brownstones on treelined streets.

Our love of eating combined with our intimate knowledge of airplane food means we always carry a homemade meal when flying, just in case. Sure, we'll see what the stewards are offering from their airplane food carts, as every now and then what's behind the foil is not too shabby, but the risk of being left hungry at 35,000 feet above ground is one we're just not willing to take.

Not the kind of picnic we usually go on, this past weekend we dined in Prospect Park with 5,000 other New Yorkers in support of the Prospect Park Alliance at the PopUp Dinner Brooklyn. All we knew beforehand was to bring our own food, drinks, table decor, and wear all white. Tables and chairs would be provided, as would entertainment. The exact event location within Prospect Park was to be revealed the afternoon of the dinner.

This past Sunday was the type that every Sunday should be. Lazy from start to finish. Abundant sunshine and minimum heat. Out and about without ever leaving the neighborhood. Breakfast at home, Farmers' Market, picnic, the weekend paper, ice cream, slow walking. That kind of Sunday.
