The Sackett (or Bourbon Rosemary Cider) Cocktail Recipe

December 23, 2015

Winter solstice was just upon us, but given the 60F Christmas we are about to have, perhaps we can stretch fall a little longer. This cocktail of fall ingredients will keep you cozy right through winter…

RECIPE: The Sackett (or Bourbon Rosemary Cider) Cocktail

Serves one

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 2 ounces apple cider
  • dash of orange bitters
  • dash of ground cinnamon
  • dash of ground cloves
  • sprig of rosemary, plus a few leaves
  • a couple squirts of fresh lemon juice
  • lemon peel twist
  • ice

To Prepare:

  • Combine bourbon, cider, bitters, cinnamon, cloves, a few torn rosemary leaves, lemon juice and ice in a large glass or cocktail mixer. Stir to combine.
  • Strain bourbon mixture in to a separate glass with fresh ice. Twist the peel over the drink to release citrus oils. Rub the peel around the rim of the glass and then use it as a garnish, along with a sprig of rosemary.

Prem doesn't like apple cider (too sweet) but he found this to be wonderfully balanced.
